Welcome to St Mary's College - Trinidad and Tobago
Saint Mary's College (popularly known as CIC, which stands for College of the Immaculate Conception) is a government-assisted Catholic secondary school situated on Frederick Street in the heart of Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago. The school was established in 1863 with only a handful of students but enrollment today is close to 1200. The school's motto "Virtus et Scientia" is Latin for "Manliness and Knowledge". It is an all-boys school.
Message from the Principal
With great pride and excitement, I welcome you to our refreshed school’s website. We hope that you will find all the information that you need and that the website gives you an insight into our way of working as well as the core values, vision and mission of our wonderful school.
At St. Mary's College, our teachers are committed to delivering a challenging and holistic curriculum that helps every student progress at a developmentally appropriate rate whilst creating a safe environment for all students.
We offer over 30 unique clubs at St. Mary's College so there is something for each student, and I encourage each student to get involved in at least one (1) co-curricular activity. Participating in these clubs impact on the overall development of our students and help them to grow into well rounded young men and members of the society.
As the principal of St. Mary's College, I am committed to continuously build and sustain a supportive and collaborative spirit at our school. Together, as a school community, students, teachers, parents and past pupils will learn and build on the traditions of the past 155 years of the school’s existence, to meet the challenges of today and the future in innovative and exciting ways.
Thank you for all that you do in making our school great!
Mr. Nigel Joseph
Message from the Vice-Principal
Welcome to our new loyal sons of The Old White & Blue! You've
joined the family of St. Mary's College and just as thousands have before,
etched into the tradition of the recognizable White and Blue "Stripes".
CIC has a very long and rich history which we take tremendous pride. Some of the pioneers in our Nation's history books walked the halls which you will soon traverse; you will stand on the shoulders of giants that came before you. I hope that you keep this in mind with every challenge and opportunity faced over the next 5-7 years.
A new school means new beginnings and fresh starts. I hope that you can embrace a new perspective and look to the future with excitement of the endless possibilities in your transition from Primary to Secondary school. I leave you with this quote:
"Education is our passport to the future. For tomorrow belongs to the people who prepare it today."
